What is POP3?

POP3(Post Office Protocol 3) is the most recent server used to retrieve emails from the mail server. The protocol works as a service for downloading messages from the server and deleting them unless otherwise specified not to. It is built in to most email programs as well as Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers. POP3 is a standard server protocol.
