Should I disconnect my modem when I am away from home?
| Modem Safety The Cable Modem is a rugged piece of equipment and can be left on from the time it is installed and should be fine. The only reason to unplug it would be severe weather (lightning storms) in the immediate area. During those times it is best to disconnect the power cord from the modem as well as the Coaxial cable (the one that screws on) to prevent any electrical spikes from damaging the cable modem or equipment connected to the cable modem. |
